EFFICIENCY MAINE ANNOUNCES ACCELERATED REBATES:
Efficiency Maine announced as of January 2020, as a state wide goal to install 100,000 heat pumps by 2025, has led to accelerated rebates. The rebates that are currently available are listed below:
Rebate
- 1st indoor unit: $1000 if Tier 1 or $500 if Tier 2
- 2nd indoor unit: $500 if Tier 1 or $250 if Tier 2
Eligibility
Participant
- Homeowners of any income
Ductless Heat Pump
- Tier 1 heat pumps:
- AHRI-rated HSPF 12.0 or greater for systems with single indoor unit
- AHRI-rated HSPF 10.0 or greater for systems with multiple indoor units
- Tier 2 heat pumps:
- AHRI-rated HSPF 12.5 or greater
- Each system is single-zone
- Wall-mounted indoor unit
- Installed on or after 1/1/2020
- Home not served by natural gas
Building
- 1- to 4-unit residential building. For larger buildings, call for more information.
- Building is principal, year-round residence for occupants, NOT a seasonal, second, or vacation home
- Installed in primary living area, not a garage or outbuilding
- Located in Maine
- Lifetime limit = two heat pump indoor unit rebates per dwelling (A dwelling is a residential unit with a dedicated kitchen, sleeping area, and bathroom.)

An Efficiency Maine registered vender: CENTRAL MAINE HEAT PUMPS
Timeframe
- Upgrades completed within the last 12 months
Terms and Conditions
Only one rebate will be paid for any given upgrade. The Residential Registered Vendor must be paid in advance of claiming rebate if the homeowner is the rebate recipient. Efficiency Maine does not warrant the performance of installed equipment. Program and incentives subject to change or termination. Please allow six weeks for rebate processing. Incomplete information may delay or disqualify your rebate.
HEAT PUMP REBATES FOR LOW AND MODERATE INCOME MAINERS:
The affordable Heat Initiative provides:
A $2000 rebate if a home owner receives heating assistance through LIHEAP.
*Homeowner must provide proof of eligibility for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)*
OR
A rebate if a home's assessed value is below the county maximum
(The value must include land and building(s) combined BEFORE any exemptions)
